Meet the BoardEffect People of Purpose
Our People of Purpose series is a monthly program that highlights our BoardEffect team members who are here to support you. Each month, you’ll meet the friendly faces, both familiar and new, who work hard to help you reach your goals and make your experience better. Take a moment to get to know the people who are dedicated to helping you succeed.
October 2025: Carrie Forrester

Carrie Forrester recently marked her seven-year anniversary at Diligent. Over the years, she has contributed across multiple teams, starting with BoardEffect Support, moving into Implementation, and now thriving in Customer Success. With every step, she has remained focused on helping mission-driven organizations use BoardEffect with confidence and ease.
When reflecting on what keeps her motivated, Carrie points straight to the people around her.
“My team. I love working with the Mission-Driven Organization team, and especially my fellow Customer Success Managers,” she says. “They’re thoughtful, dedicated, and always ready to step in when someone needs help. We lean on each other, share ideas, and celebrate wins together, big and small.”

Outside of work, Carrie enjoys reading, gardening, and strength training. She also volunteers with the colorguard community, recently helping keep the Colorado Colorguard Allstars hydrated during the Denver Pride parade.
Carrie’s Favorite Shortcut

She’s seen customers use it to replace scattered spreadsheets and streamline the way they collect and manage board member information. By centralizing these details within BoardEffect, teams save time, stay organized, and create a more personalized experience for their members.
Congratulations to Carrie for being our People of Purpose feature this month. Her experience, energy, and genuine care for both clients and coworkers make her a key part of the BoardEffect story.
September 2025: Sarah Miller
This month, we’re excited to celebrate a team member whose passion for service and dedication to empowering clients shines through in everything she does.

Sarah Miller is a Manager of Customer Success for BoardEffect, and her journey with Diligent began in 2018. Starting as a Client Advocate, Sarah brought with her a rich background in client service across industries like architectural design, healthcare, and sales and marketing. Her most recent role before joining Diligent was as Health and Wellness Director for a nonprofit, an experience that deepened her understanding of the unique challenges faced by purpose-led organizations.
Sarah’s favorite part of her role? The people she serves.
“Our customers are so diverse, from zoos, arts organizations, healthcare providers, colleges and universities, to nonprofits, large and small,” she says. “They’re all making a real difference in their communities. It’s inspiring to support people who are so passionate about their missions.”
She’s also energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Diligent’s Guadalajara office, which opened last year. “This incredible group of customer success professionals brings enthusiasm and fresh perspectives that keep our #CustomerFirst mindset strong.”

Outside of work, Sarah’s life is full of joy and movement. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband, two children, and their dogs. Whether she’s cheering on the Eagles (“Go Birds!”), baking up a storm, or teaching a weekly fitness class at her local YMCA, Sarah finds balance in the things she loves.

When it comes to BoardEffect features, Sarah is a big fan of the Survey tool.
“Surveys are such an efficient way to gather insights and support sound decision-making,” she explains. “I’ll often volunteer to create one for a customer, not just to showcase the functionality, but because I genuinely enjoy the creativity of putting the pieces together.”
Congratulations to Sarah for being our September People of Purpose feature. Her warmth, leadership, and commitment to client success continue to elevate the BoardEffect experience. Stay tuned as we celebrate more outstanding individuals shaping the future of Diligent.
August 2025 : Pia Roper
This month, we’re proud to highlight a team member whose genuine passion for client success and building strong connections inspires us every day.

Pia Roper is a Customer Success Manager for BoardEffect, and her journey with Diligent spans nearly a decade. She began as a Customer Support Specialist for BoardDocs, then transitioned into an Implementation Specialist role with BoardEffect before stepping into her current position.
What drives Pia in her role is the transformation she sees in the clients she supports.
“Building relationships with clients and watching their progression from a novice user to an engaged and happy client, that’s what keeps me going,” she shares. “Nothing makes me happier than hearing someone say, ‘I love BoardEffect.’”
Pia’s story is also one of gratitude, for a company that allowed her to grow professionally while showing up fully for her family. As a remote employee and single parent, Pia has been able to balance her career and parenting in a way that many can't.
“My daughter has never looked out into a crowd and seen an empty seat where her mom should be,” she reflects. “Diligent, my daughter and I thank you.”

When she’s not supporting clients, Pia loves spending time outdoors. She has a special love for waterfalls and recently took a road trip with her daughter through the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York to visit as many as possible.
Now, she’s gearing up for her first solo “glamping” adventure, armed with a growing collection of gadgets and a backup plan that includes the nearest Hilton, just in case lighting a campfire isn’t as simple as YouTube makes it look.

Pia’s two favorite BoardEffect features are Custom Fields and AI Minutes:
“Custom fields let clients tailor their directory to capture unique member information, anything from food allergies to equipment loans,” she explains. “And AI Minutes? As someone who used to take minutes manually, I can confidently say it’s a huge time-saver.”
Congratulations to Pia for being our very first BoardEffect People of Purpose feature. Her compassion, expertise, and commitment to client success continue to drive meaningful impact for both our clients and team. Stay tuned as we celebrate more outstanding individuals shaping the Diligent experience.
