Manager of Applications and Systems
BoardEffect® is a 100% web-based, secure board portal designed to support best practices in governance. From providing board meeting materials in an electronic format, to meeting scheduling, to facilitating online deliberation and voting, BoardEffect® streamlines governance workflow and reduces the burden of managing the board’s workload. The firm is based in the Manayunk area in Philadelphia, PA.
The Manager of Applications and Systems will be involved in project management, application deployment, system administration, security reviews, and hands-on development of our BoardEffect product. This position oversees the development and deployment of our BoardEffect application, application servers, and open source development tools. This is a great opportunity for anybody who loves IT.
The opening is for immediate hire. We offer permanentfull-time employment. Salary is based on experience. Work schedule is 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday on-site at our offices in Philadelphia, PA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Chief Executive Officer/President.
- Assists building BoardEffect's product development and deployment strategy.
- Ensures application availability and performance according to company SLA.
- Oversees and manages company servers and application architecture.
- Works with management on enterprise application assessments including controls and security design reviews, process performance improvement, and utilization assessments.
- Codes core components of applications and databases and participates in code reviews.
- Works (smoothly, confidently, appropriately, closely) with clients regarding product and technical support.
- Develops appropriate scripts and scenarios for testing. Manages and performs system testing as needed.
- Manages and maintains security and server documentation.
- Ensures backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Creates and maintains system design documents and operational procedures.
Requirements:
- BA/BS with 5+ years experience in a team-based software development environment.
- Experience with Open Source technology such as Java, Ruby on Rails, MySQL, Apache, Linux.
- Experience building scalable infrastructure software or distributed systems. Extensive knowledge of software developing methods and strategies.
- Extensive knowledge of databases and data structure.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to succeedand thrive in a flexible, entrepreneurial work environment.
- Expertise in UNIX system architecture and Linux operating systems and utilities, with minimum of 4 years in the Linux environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and priorities and workload in a mission critical operations support environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to work well in a team environment.
