Lead Developer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical oversight and hands-on development contributions to the design, development, and implementation of BoardEffect applications and infrastructure.
  • Assist with the building of BoardEffect's product development strategy.
  • Keep current on information regarding new technologies and software entering the market.
  • Interface directly with clients regarding product and technical support.
  • Assist in planning of resource/time allocations for current and projected development needs.
  • Develop and execute the agreed to priorities and goals for the team.
  • Work effectively from pre-determined priorities and goals, with minimal day-to-day supervision, to consistently meet established deadlines.
  • Attend client meetings with other staff to act as back-up regarding technical questions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS with 5 years experience in a team based software development environment.
  • Experience using version control software in a team development environment.
  • Expert-level experience with Ruby on Rails and Mongrel.
  • Proficient in HTML, advanced CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Apache, Linux.
  • Working knowledge of best practices and industry-accepted web standards.
  • Familiarity with cross platform and cross-browser (IE, Firefox, Windows, Macintosh, etc.) compatibility issues; basic web server administration ; user interface design principles; usability and accessibility issues.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • High attention to detail, and ability to work well independently with direction from others.
  • Extensive knowledge of software developing methods and strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge of databases and data structure.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with both technical and non-technical contacts, including programmers, client experience specialists, and clients.
  • Must be able to succeed and thrive in a flexible, entrepreneurial work environment.
